LEGENDS WINS
2004
NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!

Gymnasts from all across the
United States traveled to Orlando, Florida for the 2004 USAIGC
National Championships. Nine of those gymnasts representing
Enterprise, Alabama were from Legends Gymnastics Academy. The
championships were held in Disney World at the Wyndham Palace
Resort earlier this month.
After a surprising second place
finish at last year’s championships, the legends competitive
team eagerly began preparing for this year’s competition. Their
hard work and dedication paid off as they were crowned the 2004
USAIGC National Champions in the Bronze Division. “It was a very
emotional and moving experience that we will cherish for a
lifetime,” said owner Ian Robbins. “I am so proud my wife and
our gymnasts for making this dream a reality.”
The Legends Gymnasts turned in
outstanding performances on all events, but they dominated on
the floor exercise sweeping all age divisions earning a team
event score of 29.025 out of a possible 30. Legends Gymnastics
choreographs its routines to showcase each gymnasts unique
talents and characteristics. “I love to watch the girls’
personality shine through on floor. It’s a chance for them to
show the judges who they are,” said coach TJ Robbins.
Congratulations to all of the
Legends gymnasts for an outstanding job. In the 9-10 year old
age division, BreAnn Austin placed fifth on vault, first on
floor, and second in the all-around. Natasha Mack placed second
on floor and Samantha Drummond, the youngest member of the
Legends Team, placed fifth on floor. In the 11-12 year old age
division, Jacey Corley finished in second place on vault and
beam, third on floor, and second in the all-around. Sarah Sims
placed third on beam and first on floor earning the highest
score of the individual event competition with a 9.750. Sims
also placed third in the all-around. Brandi Hendrix finished in
fifth place on beam and second place on floor. In the 13 and up
age division, Leanne Rainer placed first on beam, floor, and the
all-around. Brittany Whited placed fourth on vault, second on
bars, floor, and the all-around. Barbra Terry placed fifth on
vault, third on floor and the all-around.
“The competition was tough, but
each one of our girls dug deep within themselves and gave all
they had. When the moment came, we were overwhelmed,” said coach
Robbins. This year’s success has been bittersweet for the
Legends team as several of its members are moving out of the
Enterprise area, but the Robbins said they were so fortunate to
have shared in these children’s lives and win this victory as a
family.
